DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

2 comments :

Nobody is owned! Just because you’re sleeping with her doesn't give you right to hit her. And Yes Oga you paid her bride price does not mean you should hit her when provoked, rape her when denied sex. Domestic Violence can be more than
physical abuse. It can include sexual and emotional abuse as well. Willful intimidation will only lead to low self-esteem and even suicide.  Domestic Violence has always been there from time immemorial. Signs of domestic violence often are overlooked, denied or excused. The truth is that there is never an excuse. It crosses all ethnic, social and economic levels. But it’s something we ignore for so many reasons I cannot understand. Probably  because we're too weak to walk away all in the name of love or simply just to save face. What will people say you ask yourself, how can I leave my kids behind? How will my children take the news? Where will I start from… these are the questions that goes through the victims mind. #WhyIStayed

Society has taught us that it's ok for a man to beat and strip his woman because he found her cheating or  when provoked. It's ok for a woman to slap her boyfriend/husband when caught cheating or provoked. This is barbaric! What causes this animalistic behaviour? Psychology goes beyond mere speculation about the behaviour and mental processes of individuals. It’s the study of the nature, scope, causes, patterns, experiences, mental and physical processes of different individuals. Thus our defense mechanism are different. Science never gave room for GOD. It's a fiction we are told but to me no amount of human study can influence positive socialization among human beings. GOD IS ALWAYS INVOLVED.  Christ preached against Divorce. Thus our Spiritual Fathers ( Pastors) preach against it. Let's be logical here No one enters into marriage with the mind of breaking up with their spouse. We all remembered how in-love we were and was praying for eternity.

DV got my attention more when our Nigeria Popular Actress Mercy Aigbe sued her husband to court for beating her. Honestly, I was taken aback because I am one of her biggest fan so it was a real shocker. Was more surprised when fellow women like me came online to criticize her for standing for her right. "she too do, why her husband nor go beat her. Our mothers endured it so why can't we for the sake of our children." More controversies came up when she flew abroad to see a face surgeon. People started questioning her about  the random selfies and ongoing film project, she looked fine but then again we do not know what's going on beneath her skin.

Walk away when the heat is on. Both genders (male and female) need to stop using attitudes and moods to communicate. Let's start teaching our kids the value of life not by sending them to expensive schools but by educating them on morals and ethics. Let's not allow such societal norm destroy the human race. The only way to stop DV is to create awareness. It's high time we stop being helpless and rise together as ONE to stop this inhumanity. Nigeria is a lawless country and I wish we could pass a bill on DV. Whoever carry this act will be punishable by law.

I'm an advocate of Domestic Violence and will continue to preach against it.
