Say No to Bleaching

The desire for radiant, light and clear skin has been prevalent among Asian women. Most women especially Naija babes now use just about anything to make their skin glow.  Bleach to some degree has a corrosive effect and inflammatory conditions like Eczema which will aggravate the condition.
This would set up the affected area to be superimposed by infection and more irritation not to forget having the potential to cause cancer. Cream bleach however is suitable for lightening dark facial hair. Face bleach has a different concentration than body bleach. Since the skin of the face is more sensitive, it is prone to irritation quicker than any other part of the body. Also, it is more exposed to the sun than any other part of the body.

Skin lightening creams can cause: Permanent skin bleaching; Thinning of skin; Uneven colour loss leading to a blotchy appearance; Redness; and Intense irritation

All been said, 90% of Nigerian women still use skin bleaching products. I don't even recognise some on facebook. They still keep their old photos on their albums shame nor even catch them. The price of Fair and White has gone up cause of high demand. The ones way nor fit afford Demaline, Nur76, Clarins, Q+... and the likes now use Funbact A and Skineal as another means of bleaching their skins. Well i use these items (Funbact A and Skineal for my seasonal pimples no deny and stop immediately they are gone). Some mothers now bleach their new born babies sef,

"When you're fair, people easily notice you, you're noticed everywhere. But when you're dark it will be a bit difficult for people to notice you." said Selina Nkwocha, sales representative for Kuddy Cosmestics. True but it breaks ones confidence too. While these products are fine for removing blemishes and dark spots, there are still harzards of prolonged bleaching. But them go still buy, all na to look fine.

Thankfully i don't have black knuckles from all the recommended  "no use this one nai de work" cream.
"An African will prefer to be called John-Phillip. If you said your name was Chukwu Emeka Afongkudong they will say you are from the village. You are backward. How can you have such a name? We really look down on our culture and heritage instead of being proud of it." - Femi Kuti.
We've gotten accustom changing body cream when it doesn't brighten our colour. I nor con know where i belong again sef. If i'm black or fair or even 'chocolate' hehehe according to some people.

To me, men instigated this whole bleaching thing. Women are systematically groomed to please the man, to make ourselves more appealing for him. I interviewed some of my male friends and they claim fair ladies are more 'posh'. A friend's friend told her 'black gehs dirty' imagine. The only thing i desperately want to bleach is my brown teeth lolz . Well whatever works for you, do it. But do not lose your esteem in the midst of all this.
